Christine has become a very talented and well-rounded rider who has demonstrated her talents in both the hunter and jumper rings across North America. Christine started riding at Fiddler’s Green Stables when she was 10 years old, despite no family background in horses. Christine started riding in weekly lessons and would come muck stalls on weekends for the privilege of additional riding time. At age 18 she bought her first horse with her own money on a payment plan. Christine continued to demonstrate a strong work ethic and dedication to the sport while a student at Carleton University obtaining her undergraduate degree. While a full-time student in a demanding program, Christine continued to work at the facility to pay for board and training of her horse. She knew from the start that horses were her future and the hard work and dedication would pay off and now she is flourishing as a young professional rider and trainer.
Christine won the first ever Canadian Emerging Rider Award for Eastern Canada in 2011, and competed in her first grand prix in 2012 with a young horse, Zanzibar, that she imported and developed herself. This partnership went on to compete in numerous Grand Prix’s with top placings, as well as qualifying two years in a row for the Talent Squad (now known as U25) at the Royal Winter Fair. Christine continued to demonstrate her talent by competing and winning in the Combined Hunters and Hunter Derbies while simultaneously competing in the Grand Prix ring. Since then her career has been on the rise!
This past season Christine competed on her new mare, Evalien, starting with jumping only clean rounds in the small Grand Prix’s over the winter circuit in Florida. Once back in Canada this pair won the Palgrave Summer Classic Grand Prix and received top placings in almost every class they competed. Together this pair finished up circuit champions in the 1.35m open jumper division and third overall in the 1.40m open jumpers.
Christine has received numerous successes and accolades competing her client’s hunters and jumpers throughout North America. She is also an intricate part of the success that Fiddler’s Green Stables has seen with the development and training of sales horses both in the show ring and at home. Many of these horses have gone on to win classes and become title earners at some of the largest and most prestigious circuits in North America, including Wellington, Washington, The Hamptons, Capital Challenge, Great Lakes Festival, Kentucky and Tryon.
Christine got her start with Becky Nuth at Fiddler’s Green Stables where she first got a taste of the competition life. Under Becky’s guidance and training Christine was able to develop her skills and start gaining a name for herself in the show ring. After graduating from University, Christine started riding full time for Becky and they have since become successful business partners.
Christine has also been lucky enough to train and learn from some of the biggest names in the industry during her continued riding development. She was a working student for Hugh Graham at KingRidge Stables and still regularly trains with him in Florida for the winter circuit. She has trained with Jenn Hamilton and Darrin Dlin, and has also been lucky enough to train and learn from Jill Henselwood over the years. Despite her young age Christine brings a wealth of knowledge to our program and has helped us develop not only many talented horses but also very successful riders.
Christine is regarded highly by her clients and competitors both in and out of the show ring. Christine continues her career at Fiddler’s Green Stables riding, training and competing, as well as coaching both our high-level riders and our up and coming talents. Christine is very proud of her team, their hard work and dedication, as well as the top results they continually receive in the show ring. As she continues to build upon her impressive career, Christine strongly acknowledges that she has been very fortunate to have an amazing group around her that has helped make her career what is now, and this is just the beginning for this young equestrian!
