At Fiddler’s Green Stables we value safety of the utmost importance and, rest assured, your young children will be on smaller ponies so they can feel safe and confident while learning. Adult beginners will be placed on experienced horses so that they can feel safe and confident too.
Fiddler’s Green Stables has a proven record of training riders to the highest levels of equitation as well as hunter jumper riders at the gold level. As a testament to our high standards we consistently win zone awards for equitation . Fiddler’s Green Riders are consistently winning at the local and provincial level, and we also have a track record of producing many riders who have gone on to show grand prix’s (check our alumni section).
Whether you just want to be a recreational rider or a more serious competitive rider , we have something for everyone.
All beginner riders at Fiddler’s Green start on a longe line program, as this helps to develop their seat and balance before learning how to steer and navigate their horse/pony. The longe line program is a private lesson 30 min in length whereby they will learn tacking up skills in addition to riding with the instructor maintaining control of the horse/pony. We feel this is the safest and best way to gain confidence. Once competent at the walk and the trot, riders over the age of 7 can be put into a group lesson where they will get more time in the saddle and learn to ride with others.
For the competitive oriented rider, they may soon get into riding two lessons per week, and then from there go on to half lease or lease a horse/pony that they may show. Leasing can be a stepping stone to owning your own horse and definitely these riders are more serious riding usually 3-4 times per week and competing most weekends in the summer.
We also offer camps during school breaks , both for beginner riders and competitive show camps.
